Volunteer with us

There are lots of fun and rewarding ways to get involved. Find one that’s right for you.

All of our leaders, commissioners and supporting roles are volunteers.

Many of our roles are open to both men and women.
You don’t need to have been involved in guiding before or have loads of spare time to make a big difference. Whatever your skills and interests there’s a role to suit you.

There are many ways to volunteer – register your interest to find out about volunteering roles available near you.

Volunteer with girls at unit meetings

At the heart of guiding are the unit meetings that girls go along to each week. Volunteering at unit meetings means getting messy, meeting new people and running activities that help girls discover their potential. You’ll volunteer directly with young people and can choose to work with girls in Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers. Unit meetings are usually an hour – 90 minutes once a week.

Young women aged 14 to 18 years old are able to join as Young Leaders, to find out more about their programme please follow the link Young Leader Qualification | Girlguiding

Taking on a supporting role

If you aren’t able to volunteer on a regular basis, you can still make an impact in a supporting role. No commitment is too small – every role is vital to running our charity.

These roles are perfect for you if you are:

  • Not able to give time every week
  • Want to help out casually
  • Keen to share a specialist skill such as book keeping,  photography or managing a shop

Roles include: treasurer, administrator, photographer, volunteer shop manager. Find out more about supporting roles.
