Outdoor Activities Training
21st September 2024
For all volunteers, young leaders and external young volunteers
Cost £25 (legitimate unit expense)
Sessions currently being considered
Bushcraft and Outdoor Basics – hanging ropes swings & walks, whittling,
Bug hunting & identification, plant/bird identification, k
Intro to DofE
Trangia cooking
Simple campfire – aimed at Rainbow/Brownie leaders
Camp gadgets

2hr sessions
Campfire cooking – trangier & open fire, include building campfire, meals aimed at Guide/Ranger leaders
Intro to map reading and hike to river or circular walk
Bushcraft skills – for Guide/Ranger age including bivvy night set ups
Tents and tent maintenance.

Canoeing 2024

Canoeing 2024

Morning and afternoon canoeing sessions for Guides, Rangers and volunteers will be held on the following dates at Papermill Lock.

Archery 2024

Risk assessments

Risk Assessments will be needed for each event, travel to/from the event and activities during the event. They help you look at an event from all angles and imagine ‘what if’ scenarios. They are working documents that are updated throughout the planning process.
